Position: Executive Director

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director (ED) will have overall strategic and operational responsibility for UAMA’s staff, volunteers, programs, expansion, and execution of its mission. Other key duties include fundraising, marketing, and community outreach. 

Qualifications:    

• Must be an active member of UAMA.
• Must have basic knowledge of Islam.
• Must have some basic understanding of a non-profit organization.
• Must understand the fundamental aspects and the needs of UAMA members.
• Preferred to possess skills and or/expertise in some field but not a requirement.
• Must be committed to UAMA's strategic plans and mission.
• Must have passion, idealism, integrity, positive attitude, mission-driven, and self-directed.
• Must demonstrate leadership and relationship management experience.
• Must demonstrate success in managing funder relationships.
• Must have strong written and verbal communication skills, a persuasive and passionate communicator with excellent interpersonal and multidisciplinary project skills.
• Must have the ability to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people.
• Must not serve as a consultant to, a director, or officer, of a similar or competing organization.
• Must be willing to submit for background check if needed.

Job Responsibilities:

Board Governance:

• Works with the board in order to fulfill the organization mission. Responsible for leading UAMA in a manner that supports and guides the organization’s mission as defined by the Board of Directors
• Responsible for communicating effectively with the Board and providing, in a timely and accurate manner, all information necessary for the Board to function properly and to make informed decisions

Financial Performance and Viability:

• Develops resources sufficient to ensure the financial health of the organization.
• Responsible for the fiscal integrity of UAMA, to include submission to the Board of a proposed annual budget and financial statements, which accurately reflect the financial condition of the organization
• Responsible for fundraising and developing other resources necessary to support UAMA’s mission

Organization Mission and Strategy:

• Works with board and officers to ensure that the mission is fulfilled through programs, strategic planning and community outreach
• Responsible for implementation of UAMA’s programs that carry out the organization’s mission.
• Responsible for strategic planning to ensure that UAMA can successfully fulfill its Mission into the future
• Responsible for the enhancement of UAMA’s image by being active and visible in the community and by working closely with other professional, civic and private organizations
• Responsible effective administration of UAMA operations
• Responsible for signing all notes, agreements, and other instruments made and entered into and on behalf of the organization.
